Design Engineer. A permanent replacement for an employee being promoted. As this position will initially be on the Boeing 787 project, the role receives considerable customer attention. It will be beneficial, from the continuity point of view, to make an early appointment and the potential candidates may be asked to work on either the high-pressure hydraulic systems or on mechanical and electro-mechanical actuators. Aviation background and appropriate academic qualifications will be valuable.
Role activities:
• Engineering responsibility for delivery of a high quality product that meets customer and business expectations.
• Capture, flow down and validation of customer's requirements.
• Defining and agreeing the means for verification of requirements.
• Create technical documentation (e.g. drawings, procedures, reports, change notes, concession, etc).
• Ensuring that the product meets performance, weight, schedule, cost, reliability, safety requirements.
• Set up design reviews and assist program reviews.
• Set up function teams and problem solving activities to resolve design issues.
In addition, the engineer currently in this position was also responsible for the following work scope:
General :
Concessions, Airframe customer’s requests, associated meetings internal and external, B787 transfer and technical meetings, process changes etc.,.
Product groups :
Hydraulic valves and control circuits and/or Uplocks and Actuators for Main Landing Gear and LG Doors.
This is a role for an aviation/automotive engineer with adequate knowledge of the following:
• Mechanical and hydraulic equipment and design.
• Aircraft landing gear and hydraulic equipment.
• Aircraft structural design.
• GD&T.
In addition, the candidate needs to possess the following skills and technical competences:
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated.
• An understanding of materials, processing and manufacturing techniques.
• Prepare design WBS, lead time and resource estimates to assist the program team.
• Good knowledge of Solidworks, Catia V5 or Unigraphics would be advantageous.
• Competent user of all the Microsoft Office applications, including Access and Excel
• A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline would be a definite advantage
