Description: PRINCIPAL CIVIL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
LOCATION – MANCHESTER
We are looking to recruit a Principal Civil Structural Engineer into our Rail Civil group .
Main Purpose of the Job
- To lead, direct and undertake engineering activities within the group, in respect of both design and consultancy services.
- To lead multi-disciplinary civil rail projects and coordinate work packages undertaken by other disciplines and groups.
- To provide specialist technical support on multi-disciplinary projects and opportunities in the field of civil/structural engineering, with particular expertise in rail infrastructure projects.
- To support business development and the implementation of business strategies
Requirements:Principal Accountabilities:
- Delivering civil/structural engineering specific tasks and contributing to the civil engineering input to multi disciplinary railway engineering projects;
- Undertake the roles of Project Engineer, Network Rail’s Contractors Responsible Engineer or Task Manager as required.
- Identify, understand and promulgate client needs and expectations to ensure client satisfaction on all projects and maximise the opportunities for repeat business.
- In all activities to contribute to the development of PB’s business in the field of railway infrastructure engineering.
Qualifications and Experience
- Sound knowledge and understanding of a broad range of civil and structural engineering design and assessment aspects within the rail sector including bridge, platform, signal, level crossing and retaining walls together with a good working knowledge of other rail disciplines.
- Sound knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and practices appropriate to the service delivery sector e.g. HMRI Principals and Guidance, Railway Group Standards, Network Rail and LU Company Standards, ‘Yellow Book’.
- A sound knowledge of the GRIP process.
- Experience in Network Rail’s Contractor’s Responsible Engineer role.
- Degree-qualified chartered engineer, or similar professional status
- Member of an appropriate professional institution
- Experience of working on Network Rail’s live asset under possession and isolations
- PTS/Sentinel card holder.
